Providing data to Smart City Server

The Smart City Monitor allows several options for receiving data from enterprise such as follows:

  • Connecting sensors installed locally, e.g. providing the status of the service “Open/Closed” e.g. “The entrance door to the service is closed. The service changes its status on the map to Closed”.
  • Receiving direct command “Open/Close” from the service owner to his personal members area at Smart City Monitor Setting data connections to systems with compatible architecture such as Smart Enterprise
  • Setting data import from enterprise performance management systems which may exist in organizations by importing its authorized data in automatic mode
  • Using existing data exchange protocols for connecting to existing management systems e.g. SCADA (energy, water, waste, environment, traffic, etc).

The data content and modality is defined in the agreements between City administrations and Service Provider. The technical implementation is realized by Smart City Monitor team in the municipality with interactive instruments without need for programming.

In case the business service provider uses Smart Enterprise performance management system such data can be very informative, rich and easy to implement. As example, the Smart Enterprise, presented in another section of the Portal, is effective and affordable intelligent solution compatible and easily connected with Smart City Monitor. 

What information can be presented by organizations on Smart City map and dashboards?

The performance information content presented on the City Life maps by service providers can be rich and illustrative and include data, texts, pictures, video streams. It is limited by the data which Smart City server receives from the service provider and local community policies.

It may include any detail accordingly measurements implemented at provider side or system of indicators it uses. For example it could have the following content

  • We have today X doctors (cashiers, car service lines, etc) are on service
  • Current number of free seats (or parking places, etc) in the restaurant is Z
  • Current number of busses which serve you in our city is 99
  • The volume of water per person used in each district of our city is as follows: ….
  • Etc

Business model options

The business customers sign contract with the City Administration and receive authorization to set and administer own business objects on city server and map. It may include possibilities for the following:

  • Managing own service operational status “Open/Closed”
  • Presenting particular performance and quality information online
  • Publishing events about performance and products and services for city subscribers
  • Contributing to city projects and developments relevant public acknowledgements and funding
  • Having links to own web site of the service.
